doctor Haneef set free ****stop press

can you believe it ? Yes Doctor Haneef the Doctor held by Australia Federal Pollice for the last three weeks has been released charges dropped.....

Haneef was arrested and detained over three weeks ago under the 2005 Terrorism Act. Until Sunday he had not been charged, The Federal Police had at that stage considered requesting a further delay/extension in the amount of time he could be held under the provisions of this act alone. Instead it decided to charge the Doctor with materially supporting terrorism .By allowing a SIM card from a Mobile phone to pass into the hands of terrorist's.

Family

To date his family both his brother and his wife have been meek and patient with the process. His wife spaking ABC Radio from India indicated she repected the process that the authorities had to go through in order to clear her husband,
His brother indicated that the SIM card was a pre-paid type and the reason it was given to a third party was that there was unused credit for call stillon ti. This is despite period of eleven moth's transpiring after the card was disposed of before any terrorist activity occurred.

Anyway after the charge was laid. Bail was applied for and the Magistrate issued a $10,000 surety and reporting conditions. On and around that time the minister for Immigration not pleased with the decision decided to revoke his Visa on character grounds. This effectively means that Haneef would not be allowed to go free instead would be put into a Immigration Detention Centre until his case is heard. That could be month's if not years away.

A family member who is a half-cousin of Doctor Haneef is the one alleged to be a partipant in the Botched Terrorism attempt in Glasgow.
